The Finish Line

Tyler had a scan yesterday and it was free and clear of any signs of cancer. Yahoo!!! and may I say that again... He will continue to have scans every 3 months for the next year and then they will bump it a month to every 4 months and so forth as long as it continues to look good.

He had his pic line removed today. This was suppose to be a simple procedure but nothing about this has been simple. They tried to pull it out on Tuesday and his vein wouldn't release it. They had him come back today to see if they could pull it out, if not they would have to surgically remove it. Thank goodness, it came out. We were so thankful for that, he has been through enough.

Once again as a Family we would all like to say THANK YOU to everyone for your support, love, and prayers you gave in behalf of our family. Words can not express the love we feel for people around us. We are grateful for the fundraiser that was held in our behalf, we feel very blessed to know such great people.

3rd and Final Cycle

We are here! Tyler has gone through his final cycle and has one more treatment to finish it, but the hard stuff is behind us. He is feeling really good today and did wonderful with the treatment Wednesday and Thursday. We will finish this coming Wednesday and then we will have scans done again in three weeks to confirm that everything is cleared up. It has been a long road to get here but we feel so blessed of the out come. Thanks for all your prayers. It has helped us get to where we are today.

2nd Cycle

Hey everyone, just an update for you regarding the 2nd cycle. Tyler responded really well this time. They gave him extra fluids to help with the nausea and it seemed to work. Tyler felt good yesterday with the first dose of chemo and a little sicker today. Much better cycle than the first go around. We did seem to get out of the hospital a little quicker each day.

Thanks for all your prayers and thoughts, Tyler is doing well because of them. He had a pet scan on Tuesday and we got the results today. The doctors let us know that the chemo is working for him, the pet scan didn't show any masses of cancer. This doesn't mean it is all gone, but it does mean that it is working and that the treatment will be short. We are grateful for that.

If Tyler will let me I will have to put a new picture up. We went hat shopping this week and Ty is feeling better about his beautiful baldness. Everyone that sees him is telling him he plays the look well. Thanks everyone.

We will go in Wednesday to finish this cycle. It is a cake walk compared to today.

Next Cycle

Next week Tyler will begin his second cycle of chemo therapy. On Tuesday he will go in for another pet scan to see how the chemo has affected the cancer and make sure his body is ready for another round. Wednesday and Thursday are his days for chemo therapy. We are gearing up for that.

Tyler has started to loose his curly locks this week. He is known by all his friends as curly so he is feeling a little apprehensive about it. He is worried how he will look and what people will think and say. If you see him give him a big thumbs up and support. It will be extremely hard for him. If anyone sees any cool hats, let us know.

Finished First Cycle

Tyler has complete the first cycle in his treatment. He now has 1 down 2 to go. Thursday was easy compared to last week. The doctors explained that this treatment was like water and it wouldn't effect him at all. The were right--he felt really good when he finished this treatment. He felt so good we left for a long need vacation--we weren't sure if he would feel good enough to go. His next treatment will begin on the 27th. We hope it won't be as rough as the first one. Let's hope.

The Weekend

Tyler is a real trooper. Friday was a bad day. He felt really sick and the nurses kept giving him things to make him feel better, which in turn he was sleeping really well. When the medication started to wear off he felt better.

We are learning how to give shots at home, Tyler will need a shot in the leg for the next 7 days. He isn't too happy that Mom and Dad are playing doctor at home. David has been nicknamed Dr. Dave (by himself). We have to flush his picc line everyday with fluids since it is not being used. We are getting a mini nursing degree at home.

We will head back to Primary on Thursday and this will finish his first round of chemo. He will have a two week break from the hospital and then start the next round. In the mean time he has lots of fun at home with pills and shots and dressing changes.

Through all this Tyler is still hanging in there. He is starting to feel the side effects from the chemo which is tired a lot, cold, and his throat hurts. We are taking it one day at a time to survive the chaos here.

First Treatment

Hey everyone today has been a long day for all of us. Tyler got his first treatment and we were all filled full of so much information that our heads hurt. Tyler started out with getting a picc line put in his arm and then they started the chemo. He did did awesome... He is feeling a little sick tonight--mostly really tired. (Although he hasn't gone to bed) This treatment will give us a good idea of how he will react to chemo. We will go back tomorrow to finish this first cycle. We did get a better look at his treatment schedule and it will take about three months, if everything goes as planned. He will have tests and some treatment almost every week as they watch him and watch how the chemo is affecting him. We will keep our fingers crossed that he won't feel to sick.

Thoughts from Tyler

I am feeling good! I am not worried about going to chemo. I appreciate everyone who has been caring. Thanks for all the visits, phone calls, notes and blog entries. Thanks Tyler

Treatment Begins

I got a call this morning and all tests look good for chemo to start. They have canceled our appointment tomorrow and we are rescheduled for next Thursday. They will start chemo then. They think that he will only have to do 3 cycles, depending on how the cancer responds. This sounds really good to us.

We can't thank everyone enough for all there thoughts, prays and help that has been given in our family's behalf. We feel so blessed to know how much love has been expressed to our family. Dinners and help with the kids has been so generously offered and that means so much. Everyone is right there to offer their help and we thank you.

The upcoming weeks will be a challenge but Tyler is in good spirits about it and we are anxious to see it pass.

We completed a long list of test today. We now know what a pet scan, echo cardiogram, and pulimary testing is. He also got to show off his chest on the x-ray and give more blood to the vampires. We think we are done with the testing, and Thursday we will be going to Primary's to get the results of all these test. We will be anxious to hear how they turned out. I believe they will be talking about his treatment plan. It was a long day and we are glad it is behind us.

New Tests

Just an update for you, we will be going into LDS Hosp on Tuesday to have a new scan done called the pet scan, (to see if tyler is a dog, cat or lizard... Ha, Ha, Ha, Just kidding.) This will be about 3 hours and then we will head over to Primary's for chest xrays, echo cardio, and a puliminary test. We will have a full day Tuesday, please keep us in your prayers.

Here is our update for today for those of you who don't know. We spent the day at Primary's and they did more scans. They didn't find any more cancer and that indicates that he is in Stage 1. They think that chemotherapy will be very light and it will take care of things pretty easily. It was really good news at this point. Our next step is to do more test to make sure he is ready to handle chemotherapy. We hope to keep you updated through this blog. You are welcome to past Tyler's sight on to anyone else you know would be concerned.
Hi Family and Friends,

We decided to create this blog because we want everyone to feel as updated as possible with Tyler and we know your love and concern for him and our family.

We hope that this will help everyone feel connected and be able to be updated as much as they want too.

We are so thankful for everyone and appreciate the support through this trial. We love you all.
